The BabyChill Story
BabyChill was created in response to an extensive three year research period. This included interviews, testing and observations with Mums, Dads, grandparents, nannies, carers, nursery staff, child-minders, midwives, health visitors and lots and lots of babies!
Developmental opportunities for early years and their parents/carers are often focused on 'how to be a better parent' with drop in centres offering fast paced and over stimulating environments. Quality time in which babies and their caregivers could just be together, make eye contact, touch, chat, play and explore within a calming environment wasn't readily available.
As a Mum herself, creator Sacha Kyle's work as a creative play therapist and specialist consultant engaging directly with parents and babies led to her creating a unique space to enable this to happen.
Her work within positive parenting and play and her understanding into current baby neuroscience combined with her creative design background offered a completely innovative research approach.
As part of a hands on residency supported by Starcatchers and Imaginate, Sacha was able to take the opportunity to talk directly to new parents and to explore and discover what was important to them. During this time she was also made aware of the ups and downs of being a parent whether you were a Mum or a Dad, and, that regardless of culture or background, parenting can be a challenge!
Parents expressed a real desire to connect with other parents, to be social and interact in a way that was both positive for them and their babies. This is when Sacha knew that there was a space for something special and it became her passion and focus to create a unique environment that was empowering for all parents and babies to experience bonding and attachment as a 'shared experience'.
Alongside relaxing parents and babies, Sacha continues to speak and lead sessions on the importance of bonding, attachment and play and is currently developing creative 'New Parent' content for CBeebies/BBC television.
And.........she has also just had a baby of her very own!
This experience, above all, has further fueled her passion and belief in the importance of this early contact and the power of BabyChill.
